VESAK: Photography by Richard Seah @ richardseah.com

Vesak marks the birth, enlightenment and passing of Buddha.

At the Bright Hill temple in Singapore, Buddhists mark the day with long ritual whereby each person walks three steps forward, falls prostrate to the ground, rises, takes another three steps forward and repeats the process - for about two hours as they make their way around the vast temple grounds.

Thousands take part. Those unable to prostrate themselves, like this lady, would bend forward in reverence.
