Photography by Richard Seah @ richardseah.com

This is the part of the website that I am most excited about - my "ego trip".

Actually, I've received feedback that this whole website is an ego trip! Oh well, so be it.

I've always wanted to show off - share - my photography. Not because I think they are the greatest pictures in the world but simply because they express the artist in me.

All artists need expression. All people need expression.

Unfortunately, I am not (considered) outstanding enough an artist to be given the normal means of expression such as exhibitions and gallery displays.

This is where the www - world wide web - comes in useful. It allows lesser known artists like me to express myself and share my work. And hopefully find an appreciative audience.

The pictures here are scanned from old slides, some more than 20 years old and already partially damaged by fungus. So they are not perfect. Some might look dirty.

However, just as old musical recordings can still be enjoyed in spite of the distortions and crackling noises, I believe my pictures can be enjoyed as well.

My style of photography is simple - point, focus and shoot!

All the pictures here are taken without flash, tripod or any other accessories. Almost all, except for a few food pictures, were taken "as is". No efforts were made to re-arrange or pose my subjects.

I have organised my pictures into eight broad categories. To view each category, click onto the picture or the word below it.

PRAYER focuses on religion and worship. They capture a person's very private moments with their God and, in that sense, is an intrusion of privacy. Yet these are pictures taken in public, of people who are not shy or afraid to express their communion with the divine.

HANDS focusses on a part of the body that is about as expressive as the face. It was my (ex)wife, Rebecca, who first drew my attention to the expressiveness and character of hands. I find them a fascinating subject. Thanks, Rebecca.

CHILDREN are always a joy to photograph and a joy to see.

PEOPLE are just grown up children. Some remain a joy to look at. Others are interesting in their own ways - and in the way the photographer captures them.

EMOTIONS. I decided to make this a separate category because certain pictures express emotions more strongly than others, such as this picture of loneliness.

FOOD includes an artistic series on vegetables - my only attempts at posing my subjects - plus other encounters with food. When I travel, I find markets to be fascinating places for photography or just simply to visit.

STILL LIFE is interpreted differently here. In art, still life is usually when the artist arranges something, say, on a table, and then proceeds to make an image of it. My still life pictures (apart from the vegetables series) have all been "naturally" arranged. My task was to arrange myself and my camera lens,

NATURE and landscape - the glory of God's creation. Which photographer can resist this subject?

Of course, some pictures fit into more than one category, so you will find some repeats as you tour the different sections.

I hope you will enjoy viewing the photographs here, just as I have enjoyed the works of many photographers and artists.

A word about viewing the photographs:
This website is best viewed with your screen resolution set at 800 x 600, using Internet Explorer version 4.5 or higher.

Because of different screen settings and because different browsers manage colours differently, what you see may not be an accurate representation of the original photographs. This is a drawback of the internet which, for the moment, cannot be avoided.

If you like copies of my pictures, I offer high quality digital prints using commercial printers.
