ENTRANCE: Photography by Richard Seah @ richardseah.com

Lights and shadows at the entrance to a Mexican restaurant in San Diego, USA.

That was the first time I travelled abroad, in 1981. I was photographing everything and had used up maybe 36 rolls of film. Yet this was the only picture which I thought was worthy of enlarging, framing up and hanging on the wall.

These days, I often travel without even taking the camera along. It has become enough just to capture images in my mind.

Maybe on my next trip I will take pictures again... Now that I have a place to share - ie show off - my photography.

Burmese women colour their faces pretty with Thanaka Bark.

This mildy fragrant bark, actually the entire stem of a plant, is ground into a powder. mixed with water and applied onto the face, usually in two circles on the cheeks.

Thanaka protects the skin against the sun and improves the complexion.

Incidentally, I did not once see a Brmese girl with pimples.
