WATER JARS: Photography by Richard Seah @ richardseah.com

You will not go thirsty in Burma.

Throughout the country, water jars can be found along roadsides, placed there as offerings to weary travellers.

This practice might have been more relevant in the past when most people travelled on foot.

It remains relevant today, however, to those who offer a free drink as a way of chalking up merit for the next life.

Burmese women colour their faces pretty with Thanaka Bark.

This mildy fragrant bark, actually the entire stem of a plant, is ground into a powder. mixed with water and applied onto the face, usually in two circles on the cheeks.

Thanaka protects the skin against the sun and improves the complexion.

Incidentally, I did not once see a Brmese girl with pimples.
