Three Steps One Bow is a gruelling ritual observed at the Bright Hill Temple in Singapore to mark Vesak, the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha.

Devotees walk three steps, fall prostrate to the ground, rise, and repeat the sequence – for more than two hours!

This picture was from my first visit to Bright Hill long ago.

I went back last year and this year (2004 / 2004), hoping to take more pictures like this.

No luck. Last year's event was cancelled due to SARS. This year, it was nearly over by the time I reached the place!
