A MESSAGE FROM RICHARD
25 October 2002
Dear Friends and Visitors

A few significant things have happened since I launched this website about four months ago.

I got more work. I had two part-time writing jobs when I was building this site in May / June. Now, I have four. I was recently offered a job to write for the in-house newsletter of a multi-national corporation, as well as a research and writing job for a Member of Parliament.

It means I am a lot busier these days, and have less time to update and add to this site.

Thankfully, it also means I have more income. It's still barely enough and I am still living from pay cheque to pay cheque. But at least I know I have money coming in. It assures me that my financial - and life - situation can get better.

Despite a busier schedule, I remain committed to building this site and will add to it whenever I find the time - and the inspiration.

I just got one such inspiration today. I had received an email from someone asking about black vinegar as an alternative to soy sauce. It's an unusual question and I thought it would be good idea to share questions and answers like these. It adds to the learning and discovery.

So I will add a new section on "Health Questions + Answers". If you have questions - about food, about natural health, about macrobiotics, about anything... - do ask. I will give my thoughts on the subject and put share them on this site.

Let's take this one step further. If you like to share your perspectives on topics raised by others, email them to me and I will put them up as well.

Recently, I was also asked by TODAY newspaper - where I am doing an editorial consultancy project - to write a series on vegetarian cooking. The editor in charge initially asked for a series of six to eight articles. Now she says to expand it to 13. I will be adding a new section on Creative Healthy Cooking.

Slowly, I find myself returning to my role as a writer and teacher of natural health and macrobiotics. I made my comeback as a public speaker on the subject on 3 October at the National Library. Tomorrow, I will be speaking at a Holistic Festival at Fort Canning Park.

Recently, a friend also asked if I would like to revive The Good Life, a newsletter on natural health that I used to publish between 1989 and 1997. I used to do all of it myself and I stopped because I lost money and ended up broke as well as exhausted.

Now, my friend is suggesting that I concentrate on writing while he takes care of marketing and other tasks. It is an interesting proposal which could well be turned into reality. Or it could take some other form, such as compiling my old articles into books.

Let's see what happens.

Cheers and best wishes,

RICHARD
